Down the Mountain

Image
He stared down the mountain His back to the setting sun He was weary and footsore His journey had been a difficult one He had traveled for decades Along a twisted, winding road With so many forks that he lost count With enough obstacles so he never got bored He filled his lungs with the mountain air Feeling calmer than he had ever felt The time was long gone when he was afraid After all, there was worse with which he had dealt He started down the mountain And contentment filled his heart As he surveyed the road With which he would soon part He had faced every challenge Passed every thing single test Now he waited for the darkness to come So that he could finally rest.

To the Beat of its Own Song

Image
Learn to live from the river The mighty river following along The river that passes through the mountains To the beat of its own song Born of the rocky mountains It becomes sturdy and strong As it makes its way into the valley To the beat of its own song It leaves the mountain independent Knowing the difference between right and wrong Pouring into vast pains To the beat of its own song It never looks back   Of the past it would neither think nor long It just keeps straining to its goal To the beat of its own song It carves its own path Without so much of a knock or ding-dong Flowing through the busy cities To the beat of its own song It never gives up, never stops Even when things are murky it doesn't bang a gong It simply slithers into the sea To beat of its own song Learn to live from the river The mighty river flowing along The river that rushes without any rest To the beat of its own song.
