Alpha
His sleek grey fur glistened in the moonlight
As he prowled with a fluid grace
The beautifully lethal creature braced himself
In anticipation for what he was about to face
His opponent moved with a confidence
As seen in the warriors of old
His muzzle was curled into a fearsome snarl
His eyes flashed a warning gold
They staked each other in a perfect circle
They howled their taunts into the night
Their powerful, sinewy bodies were tense
As they faced each other for their right
It was the warrior who began the fight
By lunging to strike the first blow
But his challenger side stepped
Telling him that he was too slow
Soon they were a blur of movement
Lunging, biting, clawing, scratching
Bathing the forest floor red
Striking fear in all those watching
The human eye could barely register
The exact moment when fight did stop
As the warrior gave a low submissive whine
From his place on the ground with his opponent on top
The wolves howled in acknowledgement
While the warrior gave a respectful bow
As the grey wolf claimed alpha
After proving himself in a wonderful show
